INSEE has published the results of the 2017 census of Mayotte, department and overseas region of France located in the archipelago of Comoros, between Madagascar and the African continent. It appears that population growth, already the highest in France between 2007 and 2012 (+ 2.7% per year), increased again between 2012 and 2017, at + 3.8% per year. Making this relatively small territory the most densely populated department, after the Île-de-France (Paris region), but also the poorest, of France.
