São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in the Gulf of Guinea, off the western equatorial coast of Central Africa. It consists of two archipelagos around the two main islands of São Tomé and Príncipe, located about 140 kilometres apart and about 250 kilometres off the northwestern coast of Gabon, respectively.

Pico Cão Grande, São Tomé and Príncipe

It is an archipelago of volcanic relief and equatorial climate, and is one of the smallest countries in Africa. It has oil resources still little exploited and should help it out of chronic underdevelopment. In 2018, the country has reached 200,000 inhabitants.
