San Marino is an independent state landlocked in Italy . It is the 3rd smallest state in Europe and the 5th smallest in the world.
It is also one of the oldest republics in the world after Iceland , and the oldest republic in the world has existed continuously since its creation. Its constitution, which dates from 1600, is the oldest constitution still in force today. It is one of the countries without access to the sea.
