The French Southern and Antarctic Lands (French: Terres australes et antarctiques françaises, TAAF) constitute an overseas territory of France created in 1955. This territory currently comprises five very different districts: the archipelago of Crozet, the archipelago of Kerguelen, the Scattered Islands of the Indian Ocean (around Madagascar), St. Paul and Amsterdam Islands and Adélie Land in Antarctica.
